Sewing machines, large mirrors and an enormous cutting table were just some of
the items that had to be moved when Stella McCartney’s prestigious fashion team relocated their London offices. The operation required meticulous pre-planning and phased moves to avoid any interruption to business in this busy environment, which the company had very clearly outgrown. The absence of a lift added to the challenge for our crews, and made a few small stitches inevitable on their part – but they are used to that occupational hazard! Desktop equipment, files, stock, china and glass were all succesfully and seamlessly shifted down the stairways – including over 4 tons of redundant furniture that was taken away for recycling.
Felicity Jayne Reed, Store Planning Manager for Stella McCartney, described the operation: ‘Our office move ran very smoothly with the help of Burton and Smith – nothing was a problem for them. They were practical, organised, energetic and extremely helpful’.
